St Mary's Church Charlbury with Shorthampton

Cedar Tree

Most of you will be aware that the Western Red Cedar has had a significant fall of branches from its south side. TreeTech are now on site. Provision has been made for an alternative route through the churchyard as the footpath is unsafe. Holiday Club is happening, with additional adults supervising outdoor activities and the entrance into the church.
This is a great sadness for St Marys and for Charlbury – the tree is a landmark and climbing its branches has been a rite of passage for many of the community. However, if the stability of the tree is deemed to be compromised we have no alternative but to remove it.
